Can you recommend a good place to start.
I have been recruited by a couple of agencies looking to expand.
I have been asked to sign up, and want to make sure that I don't get scammed. How much should it cost for a license in the state of NY ?

As you've been shown cost of a license is on the NY state insurance department web site.
You'll have to elaborate more on what kind of information you are looking for with respect to if you are being offered a good deal.
