What do be the best health insurance option for an elderly couple of retirement age?
My husband is soon to retire and we are only insured under his employer group health plan. Suggest some options please, which will cover our medical needs.

If you are aged 64 years or above, then you can get under Medicare health insurance plan.
Medicare is a federally funded health insurance program that covers treatment of acute medical conditions or those conditions from which individuals usually recover. Medicare attempts to provide reasonably priced, quality health care to the segment of the population that generally lives on a restricted income.

Medicare is one of the key programs for seniors - but if must wait unit you qualified after retirement, then you need to look into individual health insurance into your state.

Unfortunately, not really right..
First off, Medicare is a federal healthcare program designed and available for those aged 65 and older and certain people under the age of 65 with a qualifying disability.
It has NOTHING to do with income, or lack thereof.
It is NOT federally funded; it is funded with taxpayer dollars (payroll taxation: FICA/FUTA) and by people paying premiums into Medicare for Part B: Medical coverage and certain people also pay for Part A: Hospital if they're aren't "fully insured" through the S.S. system. Do federal dollars come into play? Yes, but it is certainly not federally funded.
It pays for ALL manner of medical/hospital care and is NOT specifically for
acute medical conditions or those conditions from which individuals usually recover.
Just a thought or two...
