I am an independent handyman who does mostly small jobs that the bigger plumbers and carpenters do not want to bother with. I have been doing this the last few years, after working with other handymen as an assistant. Each year I am getting more and more work, and my income is growing. IF I do end up needing surgery I DO know my UI will stop but how long will I be able to receive short term disability. Is it ONLY the remaining weeks of my UI or does it start it's own cycle of weeks??

My disability runs out in the next four months. I have applied for SSDI and am waiting on a hearing date. I had to quit my job due to severe health issues. My job indicated that they would grant unemployment because I left in good standing and my health issues were beyond my control. But I left in July 2014, would I still be eligible for unemployment since it has been so long since I worked for this company. I anticipate my SSDI hearing in the next nine months.

I live in CA and have been on temp disability for 53 weeks next month. I will be able to return to work June 1, 2016, I am not sure if I will be laid off or not. Since Unemployment pays you from your highest paid quarter for the last 12 months (52 weeks) will I be eligible for benefits?
