I don't have any problem understanding Medicare Part-A and Part-B. But I find this Part-D pretty confusing. Is there anyone out there who could make things a bit easier for us?

Medicare Part D is the Prescription Drug Plan, or "PDP." It is not part of traditional Medicare Parts A and B. Click on the following link for specific information on the PDP:

Medicare Prescription Drug coverage provides protection for people who have very high drug cost and also provides protection against higher drug cost in future. Everyone with medicare is eligible for this coverage irrespective of their income and health status.

Yes, it's often difficult for the seniors to follow the plan. If they're not sure of what they're getting, they wouldn't bother to think of generic drug options.

Seniors are often confused to choose from a variety of deductible, co-payment or Gap insurance options. I guess there are around 3900 plans on offer, and it would have been a lot easier for them had there been lesser number of standard plans to choose from. Roddick

Ranking drugs is common in the Part D plans. Beneficiaries are required to bear a significant portion of the drug cost and not just a co-payment. This also applies for the more expensive drugs.

Medicare Part-D plans may differ from on state to another in terms of the benefits they offer as well as their cost. Thus if you'd move to another state from the current one, then your coverage benefits may vary along with your premium.

If you've enrolled for the Part-D plan, you'd have the right to request a coverage determination. Prescribed physicians or representatives may also request it on your behalf. In addition, the physician might also go for a first level appeal on your behalf.
