I don't think a burglary insurance claim could be covered under a fire policy- theres gottabe something called a burglary coverage insurance to cover all these hooliganism!

hi yeah,
I guess..they could certainly claim for those goods which have been destroyed by a house on fire..but not the ones stolen..a burglary insurance claim is quite different.

Hi, see, home owner's policies would certainly cover for any losses to the place that you live in. Apart from that they would cover certain structures within your premises eg. your garage, household appliances & your personal belongings to some extent. But remember that before the carrier accepts it as a burglary insurance claim they would look for the following:
The state of your home (including the precautionary & safety measures) & a report from the police.
So, that proves you'd need to prove everything even if you try to pose the burglary into a fire destruction. Red_ribbons

A fire policy would be a named peril policy... only covering loss or damage resulting from a fire. A burglary insurance claim (theft) would not be covered. The direct cause of loss for the stolen items would not be the fire. So, no... it would not be covered.

Some fire policies would cover you when you file a burglary insurance claim these days. Many go beyond fire and include other named perils. Theft is usually one of these.
I am from Canada and policies vary, so check your own policy carefully!

Friends...I guess there are enough reasons for not trying to file such a burglary insurance claim under fire insurance. I'm sure its a lot better for you to file a claim under burglary insurance. Even though your case is actually a case of burglary, you'd certainly need to explain how the burglary had taken place and what things have been looted. On the basis of this information your carrier would arrive at the amount of burglary claim that has to be met. Plasticmind

Contact your agent and go over things with him/her. You may check if your policy would cover a burglary insurance claim of this kind, but it would be difficult to fool an insurance co.
Hopefully you will find you have coverage to replace your items.
