Depending on the type of life insurance policy, even the insured himself can derive benefits from the policy during his lifetime. Say for example, he can draw a loan against his whole life policy.

This is not a "benefit", just something the insurance company permits to make an extra few bucks at the expense of the beneficiary.

Try borrowing too much money out of a Universal Life policy and see what "benefit" you receive.

Well, life insurance is an insurance plan to secure your family life after you. It is like a investment plan in a market which will also give you tax saving. So life insurance is not useful for your family but also for you to save money in a safe manner.

Poorly worded. Another illiterate poster.

Wrong.

So life insurance is not useful for your family but also for you to save money in a safe manner.

Also wrong.

Well, it can be seen as a temporary benefit at the very least. I think what OP was trying to say was even if life insurance payouts don't benefit the insured, it actually does because it takes care of beneficiaries the insured has and that results in peace of mind knowing that there is a safety net should the unthinkable happen. An intangible benefit, but it's there nonetheless. Life insurance, especially term life, is quite inexpensive and easy to find. Look up free life insurance quotes [Link removed as per TOU] online on an aggregator site to find out.

Death is neither unthinkable or unimaginable. It is an eventual reality that some people don't want to admit.

Life insurance is NOT intangible. It is a benefit provided by contract. And it's only there if one pays for the privilege of owning it.

Now, if you want to talk about "intangibles", let's turn the discussion to Social Security. Described as a "safety net", it is entirely intangible, because it is not provided by contract, and it's there nevertheless -- only because the Congress has not yet accepted the fact that there is no money to support the program.
