I own a mobile home in Florida where there is only one carrier that will insure me. I have always had a HO3 policy and now am being offered a DP1. I would like to know other than a few things like snow and ice, theft, and about $1,000.00 what is the difference in these two policies? One agent has told me the DP1 is for renters or snowbirds.

DP1 covers a structure for fire, lightening, internal explosions and some weather. DP1 also include coverage for burglary and some vandalism. DP1 is for ACV coverage (actual cash value). DP3 is coverage the replacement cost on the structure. Snowbirds?

I was inquiring about an HO3, not a DP3....what is the differene in that? Snowbirds are people that come to Florida when the weather is cold up North. They come down here, drive like lunatics on our roads then leave when the weater is pleasant again in their real worlds and leave us to our hurricane season. lol.
So in essence, there really is not much of a difference especailly since we are dealing with a mobile home that was built in 1990.
