Does it cover cardiac arrests while traveling?

Not to sound patronizing, but you're referring to "Travel ACCIDENT Insurance."

A heart attack is not an accident...it's an illness and would not likely be covered by this contract.

Hey, suppose I'd suffer a cardiac arrest when the radio contact gets lost within an aircraft and the passengers start to panic, wouldn't that be covered under travel accident insurance? Or do I need any other type of coverage for that?

Nice try...it's still a heart attack, and not covered under a travel accident policy. You need a plain old life insurance policy!

A travel accident insurance is somewhat like a combination of health and life insurance. No heart attacks, rather they'd cover you for the injuries or death if an accident occurs while traveling.

This coverage offers a variety of benefits for you. These benefits may also differ from one carrier to another depending on your destination.

Yes, you must check if your coverage offers accidental death benefits. This would come as a real benefit to your beneficiary in the event you pass away while traveling (as result of a qualified accident).

Medical evacuation could be an added advantage with some of the travel accident insurance policies. Suppose you become sick while on a visit to a remote place where there are no medical aids, it would be an emergency requirement to get you shifted to a place where you may avail immediate medical attention and care. This benefit is offered by some of the travel accident policies and helps you to get transported to the proper place in time.

Medical evacuation is certainly a great benefit. I've heard that some of the travel accident policies would also allow one of the insured's family members to be brought in under such circumstances. If the insured succumbs to death while traveling, his remains could probably be sent back and the expenses shared under the same coverage. Roddick

It also offers a lost luggage replacement benefit. In case your luggage gets lost (or for that matter stolen), it reimburses you with a fixed amount.

Travel accident insurance would generally come to you in the form of family travel packages, global hospitalization insurance and trip cancellation insurance. So whatever be your option, you must always make sure that the policy covers accidental death or loss of organs while you're traveling.

Many people purchase travel accident insurance when purchasing plane tickets for travelling abroad or big distances. People purchase these insurance products mainly because they are advised to do so by travel agents but they do not always know what these insurance products protect them from. It is important to know what travel accident insurance coverage includes to avoid paying for expenses that are covered by insurance or purchasing other insurance products unknowingly that you are already covered by your travel accident insurance coverage.

Travel accident insurance products are important because, as anyone who travels frequently can tell you, you never know what can happen during a trip. When you are not familiar with the place you are going there are many perils that you would otherwise have to be worried about and you may fail to enjoy your trip. For instance, knowing that your insurance covers the costs will make you ask for the services of a doctor if you are feeling ill right away instead of waiting till you get home.

Accidental death is only one benefit of a travel accident policy. Other benefits may include evacuation, ambulance, emergency room, and limited medical payments for accidental injuries. There may also be benefits for loss of limbs or eyesight.
