From the CA Dept of Insurance July 7, 2010:

Insurance Commissioner Poizner today announced the arrest of Mohammad Shablid, 48, of San Jose, for allegedly falsely six separate insurance claims for preexisting damage to his vehicles.

"When you lie to your insurance company, you commit insurance fraud," said Commissioner Poizner. "Committing insurance fraud is never worth the legal trouble, fines and possible jail time you will face."

Although his campaign for the Republican nomination for Governor of California is faltering under the weight of Meg Whitman's billion-dollar bankroll, he still has time to issue press releases and earn some free publicity. This press release was released earlier today. Unfortunately, there is no mention of what the effect of paying insurance premiums would have on the cost of a bagel in San Francisco. No doubt the bagel-consuming public in the Bay Area probably doesn't mind a little bit of fraud baked in their bagels.

I was in a single car accident on 04/22/2008 in which I sustained a concussion and began having seizures. My insurance policy states that if I am disabled by a doctor, which I am, I am entitled to 80 weeks of disability compensation. So far, to date, the insurance company, AMERICAN FAMILY, has denied my claim, paid me for one weeks disability and offered me a $1,500.00 settlement so I would just 'go away'. I have tried three different lawyers and none would take my case. How can I get my point across and get my disability payments? I can't work or drive because of the car accident.

I've suffered a lot ever since I got in a car accident and lost my wallet in Dec last year. I'd lost 5 of my credit cards, papers and failed to meet some financial obligations till I regained consciousness. I was already in a crunch and now shocked to receive bills amounting to scary figures! They tell that I should've maintained an identity theft protection. Is this an insurance policy!

I do come across terms like insurance fraud investigator, insurance claim investigator and insurance fraud detective so often. Do they point to the same profession? Otherwise, how do I distinguish between them?
