Can I keep remainder of money from a claim

I live in western NY and filed a claim with my insurance company since our hardwood floors were damaged and carpeting in our finished basement from a water leak on our kitchen icemaker. The insurance company sent me a check for $8900 listed as Replacement cost value. The Actual cost Value is 7000. I can do the repairs for about 4000. Can I keep all the money or will I have to send them back the 1900 difference between the RCV and the ACV? I dont know what I should do

Why did homeowner's insurance cover LL's intentional acts?

Recently I sued a landlord in California Superior Court and won. There was originally an agreement that I pay for repair and remodeling of an apartment situated on the landlord's own residential property. After I completed the agreed to repairs the landlord reneged and lots of problems ensued. The landlord wound up breaking just about every landlord-tenant law in the book and I sued for no less than 16 causes of action. There were some habitability issues including breach of implied warranty of habitability.

recoverable depriciation/ how to get it back

Hello. I really need help with this. I was robbed on our front porch at gun point back in July and the thief stole my purse. It took me at least a month to document and recover receipts for everything I could remember that was inside my purse. We submitted our loss sheet along with receipts and received a check from our insurance company minus about $1500 they listed as "recoverable depreciation". No information as to what this was, why it was listed, how they came up with the amount etc.

Take shingles from right slope, replace old with old!?

I was recently out on an adjuster appointment with Allstate and the adjuster told the homeowner that even though about 50% of the roof was damaged they would not buy the entire thing...She said they were going to pay for the entire right slope of the roof to be replaced. The entire front porch would be done as well BUT the left 10-15 shingles that need replaced, we were to take them from the right side of the roof . As a contractor I know that that is NOT ok.

partial roof replacement

My roof was damaged by hail about 6 months ago. It was not badly damagedm but definitely damaged.
My insurance company wants to replace only two slopes, saying that the entire roof was not damaged. I am having trouble understanding how this might affect me in the future, i.e., if we have another hail storm. What is general Texas law regarding roof replacement? All my neighbors who had hail damage got a whole roof!

living in house while remodeling

Can I live in a house while I remodel it? Insurance agent says I have to have something more than HO to do so.

No mortgage on the house, it just needs to be brought up to date.

One point, I just purchased the house so there isn't any insurance on it at this time.
